NEW REPLACEMENT PRIMARY SCHOOL BUILDING FOR YSGOL GYNRADD PARC Y TYWYN
Asbri in collaboration with Dawnus, Architype, WSP and The urbanists have secured planning permission for a new replacement primary school building for Ysgol Gynradd Parc y Tywyn on a new site located in the Burry Port Regeneration Area, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. The development proposal consists of the following:
• Replacement primary school (330 pupils) (4 to 11 range)
• Replacement nursery (45 places) (3 to 4 age range)
• New and replacement formal recreational areas
• Informal play areas
• Lanscaping improvements
• New vehicular and pedestrian access points
• Drop off areas
• Staff/visitor parking
The project falls under the umbrella of Carmarthenshire County Council’s Modernising Education Programme which intends to transform the network of nursery, primary and secondary schools serving the county into a strategically and operationally effective resource that meets current and future need for a school based and community focused education.
The project specifically shall be supported, in principle, by Welsh Assembly Government funding and under the of 21st Century Schools Programme.
The school is designed to minimise any environmental impact during the construction and future running of the school through its “PassiveHaus” design approach and use of local materials lead by the project architects Architype.
