Project description
A partnership project between Cardiff Council, the NHS and Cardiff Community Housing Association to deliver a £13m mixed use regeneration project to redevelop a 1960s shopping centre, redundant flats and run-down community facilities.
The new development comprised of 13 new shops; 48 flats; 11 houses; a health centre incorporating doctors surgery, dentist and pharmacy; a culture and media centre incorporating a community cinema and digital film-making suite; office space in three social enterprise units for service providers or local businesses; and a one-stop shop for Council services and a centre for training jobseekers. The project was winner of Development of the Year at the 2014 UK Housing Awards and was shortlisted for the Housing-Led Regeneration award at the 2014 Welsh Housing Awards.
Our input
Asbri Planning was responsible for all planning aspects of the scheme commencing with conducting pre-application discussions with the Local Planning Authority. Asbri project managed the development team to ensure a timely and comprehensive planning submission and secured two planning permissions for the development.
Asbri was retained to co-ordinate the development team in the discharge of planning conditions and secured permission from the Welsh Government for a highway stopping up.
