PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s vision for Lisvane and Llanishen reservoirs is to create a hub for recreation, health and wellbeing, reconnecting people with water and the environment. With a huge residential population on the doorstep, excellent public transport links to Cardiff city centre and beyond; providing access and recreational opportunities at Lisvane and Llanishen offers an unparalleled opportunity to generate social benefit. A full planning application was submitted by Asbri Planning to Cardiff Council for the development of a a three-storey visitor centre including cafe/restaurant, boat workshop and associated works including access, landscaping, footpaths, and recreational facilities. The visitor centre offers a quality building, which is both architecturally exciting and highly functional and the boat workshop offers a functional building that allows visitors to utilise the reservoir for an array of water sports and associated recreational uses.

OUR INPUT

Asbri planning were instrumental in the preparation and submission of a full application which included engaging in pre-application discussions with Cardiff Council, undertaking an extensive Pre-application Consultation which included notifying residents of the proposals, submission of application including co-ordinating the design team, preparation of Planning Statement and monitoring of application up to a positive determination. Asbri also co-ordinated the submission of all planning conditions, following the release of the decision, to enable the contractors to start on-site within their identified timeframes which will allow the building to be fully operational for visitors.
