The redevelopment will bring new life to the Old College; a grade-1-listed architectural landmark and home of the first University College of Wales as well as the Grade II listed Georgian villas at 1 and 2 New Promenade, Aberystwyth. The University’s vision is to transform this iconic building into a major cultural and creative centre for Wales where diverse communities can engage with learning and heritage, share in discovery, exchange through dialogue and prosper from enterprise. The application proposed a combination of uses for the existing buildings including an exhibition centre, place of learning, a hub for business start-ups, and conference and facilities along with a change of use of the building to provide a 32-bed boutique hotel.

Demolition of Cantonian High School and development of new campus comprising a new Cantonian High School, Woodlands SEN High School, Riverbank Special School and a Health and Well-being Building all in one campus. The provision will educate over 350 children requiring specialist provision alongside over 1,450 mainstream comprehensive students making it the largest educational establishment in Wales providing this distinct combination of learning.
