The redevelopment will bring new life to the Old College; a grade-1-listed architectural landmark and home of the first University College of Wales as well as the Grade II listed Georgian villas at 1 and 2 New Promenade, Aberystwyth. The University’s vision is to transform this iconic building into a major cultural and creative centre for Wales where diverse communities can engage with learning and heritage, share in discovery, exchange through dialogue and prosper from enterprise. The application proposed a combination of uses for the existing buildings including an exhibition centre, place of learning, a hub for business start-ups, and conference and facilities along with a change of use of the building to provide a 32-bed boutique hotel.

Demolition of Cantonian High School and development of new campus comprising a new Cantonian High School, Woodlands SEN High School, Riverbank Special School and a Health and Well-being Building all in one campus. The provision will educate over 350 children requiring specialist provision alongside over 1,450 mainstream comprehensive students making it the largest educational establishment in Wales providing this distinct combination of learning.

New all through 3-19 school on the site of the current King Henry VIII School, relocating Deri View Primary School and incorporating flying-start, nursery, lower school, upper school, and 6th form educational provision. The site lay in a prominent location on the upper slopes of Abergavenny, adjacent to a conservation area and within views of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Blaenavon World Heritage Site

Construction of a new 750 place, 11-18 bilingual secondary school.

An 8,500m2 state of the art STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Academy to accommodate teaching, learning and support facilities, including workshops for vehicle maintenance, welding, M&E, Pneumatics and CNC, laboratories, classrooms, staff areas, multi-functional hall, café and break-out social learning spaces.

A 2,250m2 Sports Centre of Excellence for Coleg y Cymoedd’s Nantgarw Campus to accommodate a 4-court sports hall, 9 classrooms, gym, WCs and changing rooms, staff office, treatment room, official’s changing room and sports store.        

Five new primary schools;

1. Ysgol y Mynydd Du, Talgarth - New 150 place community primary school with a 40 space nursery and a community room and library for public use.

2. Clyro Church in Wales Primary School, Clyro - New 100 place primary school with a 25 space nursery

3. Llangors Church in Wales Primary, Llangors - New 150 place primary school with a 25 space nursery

4. Hay on Wye County Primary School - New 210 place primary school with a 60 place nursery and a community room and library for public use.

5. Archdeacon Griffiths Church in Wales, Primary School, Llyswen - New 150 place primary school with a 40 place nursery.

Construction of new 1200 pupil secondary school and associated 30 pupil specialist ASD unit together with layout of external sports and play areas and associated facilities and cycle access, car parking site infrastructure including drainage and main services along with hard and soft landscaping and boundary treatments.

Two extensions on either side of the Atrium Building, to accommodate a new Student Union facility and new lecture/service accommodation.
